FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I expect after my first treatment?
Damaged muscles collect waste which can act as pain producing toxins in your body. During your treatment these chemicals are released out of the soft tissues and into the blood stream. Your body then begins the process of removing them. As a result you may feel tired, slightly nauseous or you may experience a headache. The best way to assist your body to eliminate these toxins is by drinking a glass of water every hour. (NB. Tea and coffee do not assist this process and merely dehydrate the body.)

Why is treatment painful?
Your soft tissues contain chemicals which are nerve sensitising substances. In treatment sessions these chemicals are released which can stimulate the nerve endings, hence the reason you feel the pain.
Is there anything I can do to help my recovery?
In the initial stages of your treatment, it may be important to rest. Your practitioner will discuss with you any stretches or exercises which may assist your progress along the way.
What makes Occupational Therapy different from other treatments I have received in the past?
As Occupational Therapists we are trained to look at different areas of your life which affect your well being. During your treatment sessions we will address many of these issues and, if necessary, suggest changes to help you maximise your recovery.

When can I expect results?
